For as long as I can remember, storytelling has been one of my favorite parts of the human experience. Whether it was going on a treasure hunt alongside Sean Astin in The Goonies, falling in love with Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice, or sitting through uncomfortable Friday night dinners with the Gilmores in Gilmore Girls, I have always been drawn to not only the stories that we tell, but how we tell them. In this way, I have been led to my work as a Marriage and Family therapist to work with individuals, couples, and families as they learn to answer some of the most important questions – what is my story and how do I want to tell it?

With a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Lipscomb University, I have had the privilege of holding the stories of people from varied walks of life. I’ve utilized play therapy to help children make sense of their story in a way that makes sense to them, and sat with adult men and women in couple, family, and individual settings as they undergo the brave work of reauthoring their own stories. No matter who I work with, I see it as my sacred duty to provide my clients with a safe space to tell their story in whatever way they are able to – and as someone who loves a scary movie, nothing you bring into my space will scare me off.

Drawing from a holistic approach, I incorporate various models to target the healing of the whole body. Drawing from Internal Family Systems and Restoration Therapy, I love working with client’s “parts” to help them understand the dynamics we all carry within us and the cycles that we unconsciously repeat. As a former theater kid, it’s not at all uncommon for me to incorporate some more theatrical methods of therapy as well, including play therapy or psychodrama interventions. I also believe in the healing power of nature, and enjoy going on walks with my clients when weather permits!

Outside of therapy, you’ll often find me with a good book and one (or both) of my cats (Oli and Nicola!) I also enjoy connecting with my friends and family, doing something we love –watching movies, thrifting, traveling, or just enjoying a good yap session.

Above all, I believe this work is about connection, and that it is our stories that allow us to connect to one another. Whatever story you have to tell, I would be honored to hear it and help you shape it in the way that you’d like to tell it.
