Hallie Odom, AMFT

Hi, I’m Hallie. You don’t need to show up to this space neatly packaged. You may know what you want to change, or only that something doesn’t feel right. You may have old stories that need healing and be seeking support for the person you’re becoming. Both matter.

We all develop ways of responding to our relationships and the world. Many began as creative ways to preserve connection or find belonging. We can respect why they developed without letting them run our lives. There’s room for grief, anger, uncertainty, contradiction, and humor here.

My practice spans adolescents, adults, couples, and families, including neurodivergent individuals, survivors of the troubled teen industry, and people healing from harmful religious experiences. I welcome LGBTQ+ folks and those whose identities or relationships may not fit conventional expectations. For families, this may include support while considering residential placement or preparing for a teen to return home.

With adoptees, couples considering adoption, and families who have adopted, I make room for adoption’s complexity without assuming what it should mean to anyone involved. As an adoptee, I bring a personal perspective as a point of reference, but not as a blueprint for your unique experience.

My approach respects your knowledge of your own life and your capacity to create meaning. I draw from narrative and experiential approaches, with particular attention to attachment. I’m interested in the stories, dreams, contradictions, and recurring themes that shape your inner life. I pay close attention to shame and the ways it can narrow identity, silence needs, and turn survival responses into evidence against ourselves. What I love most is seeing those old conclusions lose authority as people reclaim their sense of choice.

I earned my Master of Marriage and Family Counseling from Trevecca Nazarene University and practice under a temporary license in Marriage and Family Therapy in Tennessee. Outside of therapy, I’m usually spending time with our wildly unreasonable number of cats, swimming, birding, fishing, wandering outdoors, or exploring an old cemetery or historic place. I value humor, intellectual humility, and the freedom to keep discovering.

I don’t believe there is one finished self for us to uncover. I want to make room for all that has shaped you, what is taking shape now, and what might be possible.
