Ashley Dunn, LPC-MHSP

Co-Owner, EMDR Trained, DARTT

Hi, I’m Ashley, and believe it or not I’m already a huge fan of yours. We all have a story and I consider it both an honor, and a calling, to walk alongside women and teens to promote healing, awareness, change, and joy.

I grew up in the small town of Murray, Kentucky. If I wasn’t playing sports, you could find me on some sort of outdoor adventure. I viewed life as a collection of exciting experiences and I turned into an eternal optimist. While that’s a gift at times and served me well growing up, I also became accustomed to keeping my focus solely on positivity. I found myself rarely showing or admitting any hurt, sadness, anxiety, loneliness, fear, or shame.

So, trust me when I say, I know how vulnerable it feels to take a deep dive into experiences or emotions that you would rather run from. I have witnessed how powerful the counseling process can be in helping us to recover from attachment and trauma wounding (side note, we ALL have wounds), discover our authentic selves, and heal at our core. On the other side of this process is peace, self-awareness, hope, and fulfillment. I continue to feel this in my own journey and I see these results in my clients every day.

Educationally, my background includes Masters and Specialist level degrees in School Psychology from Appalachian State University and graduate level coursework in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lipscomb University. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Murray State University. In addition to serving women and teens in the private counseling setting, I’ve spent time working for international summer programs in Scotland and England, serving intensive educational settings as a School Psychologist for over 10 years, coaching a wheelchair basketball team, mentoring in youth ministry settings, and working with clients in a residential addiction treatment program. All of these valuable experiences have helped shape my perspective and influenced my drive and passion for counseling. When I’m not working, I love to travel, catch a concert, play outside (I snowboard any chance I get), try new restaurants in town, spend time with friends and family, slow down and relax, and read (ok….you caught me) listen to audiobooks.
